Many men don’t get better because they are unwilling to get radical enough. In Matt 18 Jesus is a proponent of the radical to the point of of cutting off your hand and poking out your eye. He is using hyperbole to make a point just to say that you need to do what ever it takes. He used extreme statements to push us to take extreme measures. Just to clarify, he didn’t mean for us to go so far as to cut out our eyes/hands because a blind man can still fantasize. What he did say is do whatever you need to do to be free from sin.
Everyone needs to do the basics of being honest, building relationships, and taking care of yourself. But some of you, and you know who you are need to take extreme measures to get better. A few of those all in life changing moves are to cut out of your life all negative relationships that bring you down as bad company corrupts good character. Change jobs and get yourself in a healthy environment. Move to another area. A change of geography is a radical move that removes you from places that give you easy access to things and people that contribute to messing you up and gets you to a new place where you can start fresh.
You’re personal mantra should be “I’m all in, and I’ll do whatever it takes.” You’re not stuck, if you’re willing to do what you need to do. It will be hard to do, but it will pay you back. You are at war. Take extreme measures to kill that which wants to kill you and live. Everything you always wanted is on the other side.
