We are all living the life of David. We’re each just at different places on the time line. Our God calls David “a man after his own heart.” Because of the cross now each believer can be a man after Gods own heart because of Jesus. There’s no more hoping that you’re that guy God will chose to lead his people because He already did. It’s you.
It’s a long way to the throne and even get’s harder in many ways once you get there but it all start’s with the sheep. Caring for them, protecting them, learning to play your harp, and having intimacy with your God. It goes from killing bears, and lions, to giants. Rejection from brothers, dismissal from your father, service to your king, and friendship that comes out of hardship. Dancing naked, dodging spears, misunderstood, disrespected, and gathering men and the cave of Adullam (which means refuge). Dealing with rebellion, recovering from sin, living with loss, and killing your enemies before they kill you. Listening to your wife, living life, and passing your kingdom to your son.
What ever stage you are at find comfort that you’re living the life of David. Know that everything you are doing is preparing you for everything you’re about to do. What ever you are working through has future purpose not only in you but through your children and everyone you are in relationship with. If in victory, enjoy. If in hardship, hang tough, God is faithful, and know that this to shall pass.
