Coming to Monday night is act of repentance. Repentance is the starting point of our faith. It is more than just acknowledging wrong, it is commitment to personal change. To live a holy life. Saying you repent is meaningless with out action to back it up. It’s just blah blah blah in the atmosphere, it’s empty, it is not only of no value, rather it’s of even less value because saying you repent and then not doing it makes you liar as well.
The act of repentance is messy, it’s hard, it takes time, it’s full of mistakes, and failures. But you learn, you grow, you work at it, you try, you fall, you get up, you try again.
Hebrews 12:14 says: With out holiness no one will see the Lord. Wow!, how’s that for definitive. Purity is the key to the door of heaven. Sexual sin wants to kill you. Today, and for eternity. The first words out of the mouth of Jesus when he began to take his message to the world was “repent, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” It’s foundational to our faith and prepares you for everything He want’s to do in you, and through you.
Many men come to Monday night because they see the great relationships men are building, the fun they are having, how men are prospering in the work place, the positive way lives are changing, the way marriages are getting better, and how their single friends are finding fantastic wives. That’s all true, but do not come to Monday night for those reasons. Don’t come for your pastor, your wife, your kids, or the list of above benefits. Come for you. Come because you have an admitted penis problem and you are out of denial. Come because you want to repent. Come because you want to be Holy. When you do, then, and only then will you get the friends, prosperity, marriage, and relationships that you need. The blessings are on the other side of holiness.
A Holy life is the most excellent life you can dream up with crazy awesome benefit’s today, tomorrow and for eternity. You can do it, you will do it if you want it bad enough, if you’re desperate enough, if you’re hungry enough. You will do it when you come to grips with the destruction sexual sin produces in every part of your life and your ready to do what it takes to make it stop.
It’s very difficult to come clean. To live honestly and get out of that Grinch cave you’ve been living in and go down to feast with the Who. But that’s you, you and the Who, at a table, feeling, caring, laughing, and loving.
For years I prayed “Lord don’t let me go, no matter what it takes.” I still pray it on occasion, it works. We need help from above men, truly we do. With out the transforming power of Jesus Christ crucified we are lost, and all we would be doing on Monday is a program. We would never get to where we wanted to go because we would be working from the outside in, instead of the inside out. Our God is cleaning the dish (that’s you) and he is starting on the inside (Matt 23) Hang on, don’t let go while praying that you don’t. He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion in Christ Jesus (Phil 1 ) Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling (Phil 2) He is for you, and there is a room full of men on Monday night cheering for you. Everything you want is on the other side of sexual purity, it’s yours to take. Our God right now is taking your heart of stone and turning it into a heart of flesh, he is putting His Spirit within you, (Ezekiel 36) to help you and give you what you need to get where you want to go. Embrace delayed gratification. Know the promises of scripture, say them out loud, they are all true and they were written for you. For you, and the Who.
