If you have been a Christian any amount of time you know that it’s a waiting game. Those who wait on the Lord will…..persevere, inherit the land, renew their strength, will see the goodness of the Lord, have massive energy, they will be blessed. James 1 Psalms 27, 37, and Isaiah 30, 40
The world doesn’t wait for anything, they want it now. You deserve it, right? Instant this, drive through that, now, now,… yesterday. However the God who is at work in your life doesn’t work like that, in fact it’s quite the opposite. It’s more like next year, five years, ten, twenty, forty. He is not in a hurry, the work of God takes time. Then when He does show up it seems to happen instantly, but it was the waiting that got you there.
Purity is an act of faith, it waits for God’s best. Masturbation, debt, over eating, over anything really,… denies the faithfulness of God. It steals from our future. The wife, the life, the business, the marriage that is waiting for you if you are willing to wait.
Waiting is not passive, it’s work. It takes discipline to sit there confident, expectant, and feel the pain. What happens in us while we wait is more important than what we are waiting for. We get to know who we are, we are humbled, we recognize that we are not in control, and we grow up.
Garth Brooks sings a song “Sometimes I think God for unanswered prayer” He didn’t get what he thought he wanted, but a little bit of a wait turned out really great. Delayed gratification is your friend, and the best is truly saved for last. Set your watch to heavenly time and relax. Our God is a work not just for your good, but for your best. What doesn’t make sense today, will tomorrow. He is faithful, he will provide, you will get through this, bet on it with your time, and you’ll come out a winner.
